Description
Inspired by McDonalds, make your own dairy-free cheeseburger at home! A tasty homemade burger with a toasted bun and the classic toppings inside. McDonald's was Kristina's absolute favorite growing up, but the ingredients changed and cross contamination became too problematic to take a chance. For years, the smell of McDonald's made her crave that taste again so she created her own copycat version to make safely at home!
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs. ground chuck or sirloin
2 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1-2 tbsp. buttery spread
8 American Cheese Slices
8 Hamburger Buns
Dill Pickles
1 white onion, diced extremely finely
Mustard & Ketchup
Directions
1. Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions, aim for about 1.6 oz each.
2. Roll into a ball and flatten to about 1/8 inch thick. Place on parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Place in the freezer for 1-2 hours.
3. In a small bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
3. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Then, heat a large non-stick skillet oven medium heat.
4. Remove the patties from the freezer 1 minute before cooking and let rest. Place on skillet, season heavily, cook for 1 minute, flip, season heavily, and cook for another 1 minute. After flipping the burger, push down with the spatula to help it evenly cook. After cooking both sides for 1 minute, use your judgement - you may need to cook for another 30 seconds each side.
5. Line another cookie sheet with foil. Open the hamburger buns, spread vegan buttery spread on the inside, and add a slice of American cheese.
6. Cook for 8 minutes in the oven. Remove from oven. Layer burger, drizzle ketchup and mustard, add onions, and add pickles.
