Description
Italian Beef is a Chicago Classic made of seasoned roast beef served on a hoagie roll with provolone cheese. This Italian Beef Sandwich is an easy-to-make slow cooker recipe!
Ingredients:
- 3 lb. chuck roast
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 envelope Zesty Italian Salad Dressing Mix.
8 oz. pepperoncini pepper slices and half the juice
4 oz. giardiniera, drained
1 white onion, sliced
1 cup beef broth
Vegan provolone cheese slices
Hoagie buns
Directions
1. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat with 1 tbsp. olive oil. Season with salt & pepper. Sear roast for for 5 minutes or so, flip, and sear other side.
2. Place chuck roast in slow cooker. Add salad dressing mix, pepperoncini peppers and half of the juice, giardiniera peppers, and beef broth.
3. Cover and slow cook for 6-8 hours until meat shreds easily with fork. Remove roast from slow cooker, shred, and return shredded beef to slow cooker. Cook for 1 more hour.
4. Spilt hoagie buns in half and top with shredded beef. Add a vegan provolone cheese slice on top.
